Justice Online Launched - Video Conferencing For Singapore Courts

The Courts in Singapore have begun with video-conferenced court hearings. Justice Online (JOL), launched on 28 June 2002, allows Singapore lawyers to attend court hearings from the comfort of their own offices, saving them time and, consequently, the courts money.

The system, running as a pilot since January 2002, went live on Friday. Eighteen law firms as well as the Attorney-General's Chambers have been using the system for a wide range of "virtual" hearings at as part of the pilot. The main aim to save expensive lawyers' waiting time. Under JOL, a number of pre-trial conferences can be held online. JOL is developed and runned by Bizibozy Technologies.
