Release Of 2 JI Detainees On Restriction Orders

Two members of the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) terrorist group’s Al-Ghuraba cell who had been detained on Orders of Detention (ODs) under the Internal Security Act (ISA) since Nov 2003 have been released and placed on Restriction Orders (ROs) under the ISA.

2. Muhammad Arif bin Naharudin and Muhammad Amin bin Mohamed Yunos were released on 8 Nov 2007 when their ODs expired. They were placed on 2-year ROs under the ISA, which took effect on 9 Nov 2007 and which subject them to conditions governing their activities and movements. Both Arif and Amin had cooperated with ISD in the investigations into the JI and Al-Ghuraba cell, and had responded positively to rehabilitation, including religious counselling.
