Public Views Sought On Draft Code On Accessibility

The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) is looking at measures to make all buildings in Singapore barrier-free, and is looking to the public for feedback.

The media release by BCA is as follows:-

The Code Review Committee, led by BCA, was formed in November 2005. It comprised representatives from relevant government agencies, industry players and voluntary welfare organizations (see Annex A). The aim of this Committee is to update the Code on Barrier-Free Accessibility in Buildings (BFA Code) to meet the needs of a larger group of users.

The Committee has completed its task of reviewing the BFA Code and is pleased to circulate the attached draft Code for public feedback and comments. This feedback exercise will run for a period of one month starting from 1 July 2007 . It provides an opportunity for members of the public to contribute their comments and suggestions, which would complement the Committee’s deliberations and preliminary recommendations.

The Committee welcomes any feedback you may have on the draft Code. Such inputs would help the Committee to refine its recommendations before the revised Code is finalized for adoption. Any feedback or comment should reach this Committee before or on 31 July 2007 and attention to:
