Discontinuation of HDB’s Listed Housing Agents Scheme (LHAS)

As announced in Nov 2005, HDB will be discontinuing the Listed Housing Agents Scheme (LHAS) from 1 Jun 2006. The benefits enjoyed by listed agencies under the LHAS will be cut-over to agencies accredited under the Singapore Accredited Estate Agencies (SAEA) Scheme.

2 Launched on 11 Nov 2005, the SAEA Scheme shares the LHAS’ objective of instilling greater professionalism in the real estate industry in Singapore, and is jointly administered by the Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (SISV) and the Institute of Estate Agents (IEA) which are the two major professional bodies representing estate agents in Singapore. Since its inception, more than 70% of the 275 listed agencies under LHAS have joined the SAEA.

3 It is not mandatory for resale flat buyers and sellers to engage housing agents. However, those who wish to do so may consider engaging one from an accredited agency under the SAEA Scheme to benefit from the quality check provided by the system of accreditation.

4 For more information about the SAEA Scheme and the list of SAEA Agencies and Agents, the public can visit the website at www.saea.org.sg or call 62223030.
