iQB Online Debit Service shuts down
Singapore online debit service iQB shut down on 21 December 2004. Parent company Green Dot Internet Services which acquired iQB in June discontinued the service due to low volume. Industry watchers noted that iQB could not compete with market leader eNETS. The exit of iQB leaves eNETS as the sole provider of online debit services in Singapore.
Among the companies affected is Maybank. Maybank2u's Singapore website carried a message of their discontinuation of their Online Debit Payment Service via iQB. It stated that Maybank have been informed by the provider of iQB services that the Online Debit Payment Service would be discontinued with effect from 21 December 2004.
